Of Penang and Fools
Okay, here I am.
This entry is a pressured one, so don't expect a truly inspiring post like most of the previous ones.
Dry wit.
If you've ever heard me say that I have a dull, uninteresting life, I tell you now that I was fibbing coz the truth is there's not a gap of at least 3 days that I don't have a story to tell. I would have written all about it-just that work has been piling, its hard to even see me reaching out from a heap of faxes and BLs.
Well, brief updates in no particular order:
*became a one stop info counter/service centre for a 'friend' who didn't even...aahh,nevermind. But since this episode, I know exactly where I stand in his life, so I won't bitch coz it had helped me put some things into perspective. Now I know where to draw the line. I'm just too nice.
*graduated.
The way people make such a big deal out of graduations is beyond my comprehension. Wait. This doesn't mean I don't appreciate the gifts and the flowers-I do. I just don't get the hype. I fell asleep in the hall full of aspiring (boring) scientists. The robe was too heavy, the mortar board made me look like a pumpkin, the yellow attachment just wouldn't stay, of all the days, the sun decided to shine its glory.
*clubbing on Thursday.
Danced with a stanger whose brother I apparently went to BM tuition with. This was in Penang, mind you. What are the odds of meeting a Klang dude in a club on a Thursday night?Wanted to be really thoughtful (now, Mel and Jo...you know the truth, but let the others believe this) and got a friend a pack of ciggies only to find out that men don't smoke menthol lights.
Yes, I didn't know...bite me.
*clubbing on Friday.
Hareen and Rach came up to Penang armed with a bottle of whisky. Picked them up from Uncle Muts. Since we had nothing to pour the drink in, we made a quick stop at a 7-11. Well, it would have been quicker if Rach didn't pull a Klang :)
While I was looking for paper cups (they had paper/plastic plates, plastic forks, plastic spoon, the works...but no paper cups), Rach mightily stood her little compact mirror in the midst of the packets chikadees and volumised her lashes. Amusing, eh?
Well, I had to get the Pepsi Big Gulp, since they couldn't just sell me the cup. Poured out half its content and filled it with the magic potion (which kept me in the ladies for most of the night in Soho's). Was really plastered and it wasn't a pretty sight. Rach and Mai Yin climbed on the toilet bowl of the next cube to see what I was up to. Let's not go there.
*clubbing on Saturday.
The reason we went back to Soho was because I didn't want the last recollection of Soho's to be that of me throwing up into the toilet bowl. I wanted to have fun.Right.
A night that would have ended otherwise perfectly, turned into a drama worthy scene. Cutting a long story (which till this day I'm not quite sure of) short, there was a fight between 2 parties I know. Stupid me at that point was torn between feeling obligated to both sides. Should have taken the advice and switched off my phone and gone home and slept coz obviously I got involved (if anyone could even call it that) only to turn out to be the bad person. Another slap on the face-I realised (yet again) that some people are just not worth the concern.
Same episode caused major frictions with a long time, good buddy-on my side I know I've somewhat lost her.
Whatever la. People change and I better get used to it. Have since been getting calls from unknown numbers, questioning me about my presence in Penang the night of the fight. Quite the celebrity, innit?
*waikiki last friday.
Bumped into the Klang guy I danced with in Penang. Rach and Hareen purposely brought a cup of whiskey coke in the 7-11 Big Gulp cup into Waikik just to amuse me. I love those clowns. Oh yeah, I've finally found someone who doesn't mind opening the dance floor with me. My cousin! And I was searching so far.
Okay, enough night wandering posts. I promise a more intellectual/dignified post in the next (whenever that is!)
Sharm, thanks a lot for the cake-still have a piece of it, no heart to gorge it down. Love ya!
