hey, its the elections! dreams come true here... right?
Well, whaddaya know...its the elections around the corner and looks who's promising sweet nothings to ignorant and naïve voters.
good roads, better markets, world class drainage systems, great education for our children, equal opportunity for the ppl (right!)
someone should really make this into a chorus of a theme song for the election campaign.
coz it's only sung then.
Where are the MPss on the other days? y don't they come out and hug old folks and lil babies then? y the pretence? Maybe you can fool the baby boomers but not us, the babies.
just because we don't have a voice yet, doesn't mean that we don't have eyes. "we're watching you" I quote the NST for the youthquake, last Friday.
Wednesday's evening news saw the works minister announcing that the jalan pahang toll booths would be closed for good, beginning the night of the 18th and not at the end of this month like planned. hhhmmmmm... y the haste, we wonder? when's the elections, again? 21st? right? I thought so.
U know what angers me? double standards. no, I'm no champion of the opposition, though I'll have to admit that they do bring up some pretty good issues that others are desperately trying to sweep under the rug.
The thing is y are the newspapers and the tv stations dominated by the ruling front? where is "undilah DAP" in the papers? i'm sure they have funds for that. If campaigning in the papers are allowed, it should be made possible for everyone... or to make things easier, disallow it for everyone. hows that? the truth is, no one enjoys paying rm 1.20 for repetitive pages. all's fair in love and war, they say. well, this is "war" and where's this fairness?if I may ask.
u know what the newspapers should print instead? FAQs of the voting system and procedures. ppl who have been dead for years seem to be eligible to vote, but not those who are alive, but rnt residing in their hometown due to several reasons. it's not that they cant vote, but are in the dark of the procedures. Are they entitled to vote by post? or is that a priveledge only the security force are entitled to?
what about university students? especially those separated by the east/west malaysia factor? r they supposed to take a flight home to register? and then take another flight to vote? y cant the EC do some sort of a road show thingy whereby they visit the IPT's and allow the students to register/vote from there? can you register online?
you dont bother explaining, we dont bother to vote. thats the mindset of many of whom i've talked to. it's as simple as that, they say. justified,i add.
Why do I rarely see ?ceramahs by the opposition leaders on air? cant remember if I did.. must be getting senile?
there's another thing that comes to mind, now that I'm at this.. we need new blood in our representative parties. honestly, i'm amazed at how thick some politicians are. somehow, they dont get the hint that it's time to leave. even mules rnt that stubborn.my advice? leave gracefully before you're disgraced.
and,did you know.. we only get sambal belacan in malaysia..? how great is that? nope, none in indon, none in thailand...only malaysia. now, isnt that a reason to be grateful?
