enough of elections already..get to work!!
in the spirit of the elections, here's a wish list i made..
1)more public universities
is it really so hard to build more public universities?one shopping mall after another is being built these days(there's more than five giordano outlets in the klang valley alone..is that necessary?),how bout making space for a few more IPTAs.especially those that offer 'professional' courses such as medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry and law.
its sad to see so many discouraged and rejected even when they have made the minimum requirements.even more so when these are the ppl who are really passionate about these fields.its a simple concept, you produce the results and we'll give you the opportunity.these days, its all about luck.you cant say for sure if you'd get what you want, even with a CGPA of 4.0.
2)better public transportation
this has been a plea for oh-so-long,yet our public transport remains as it is,atrocious.take penang for an instance.gurney plaza is a tourist spot.yet there are no busses that stop infront of it.you either have to get down at midlands or the batu ferringhi road and walk.mind you, pedestrians crossing a round-a-bout isnt good news.if you cant sleep, dont count sheep, count the number of cars in penang.
has anyone of u been in those terrible mini busses that im subjected to every time i go out?the windows are covered with advertistments.i dont even know when to ring the stupid bell coz i cant see out of the bus.n dont let me start on the bus drivers.such a rude lot.only interested in making money by jamming the bus like a can of sardines.the poor old ppl that hang on for dear life as the drivers take the roads like a cow gone mad.
i heard in horror in the news the other day that some smart politician pledged to develop penang.some more?is he off his rockers?well,if his notion of development is a monorail link,by all means..be my guest.other than that...please clean up the jelutong river...it's black.i wouldnt for the life of me want to know whats living in there.
look at the bus stations..besides it being full of weirdos and school children playing truant, smoking and flirting in corners and making out under bushes,it's filthy!the air is grey from pollution and ur lucky if you can set foot on the ground without stepping on some sort of rubbish or other.the main bus station in the heart of klang town and the one at komtar, penang are classics.
and MPs, while you're at it..if you ever get to it,that is..please light up the bus stops.n tell the drivers to bloody stop at the bus stops...there's a reason y its call a 'bus stop'.
3)a major overhaul in the education system
it isnt a wonder why we produce idiots in our society.just take a look at the system;the people, the educators, the policy-makers.everyone has only one objective;to get their job done the easist and fastest way possible.
i love to people watch, and one place that never fails to amuse me is my own university.i'm not proclaiming that i'm super smart,or superior to anyone (well, there may be some..),but what i'm trying to say is,if you have seen what i've seen in public universities(i can only speak for public universities, coz i'm only exposed to that),i'm sure you would have already taken an oath not to send your kids there.3/4 dont behave like undergrads.in fact, they behave like those you see sitting on the benches in parks.zero communication skills, zero professionalism, zero common sense.their greatest interest are in things that arent at all relevant to them.
where did they go wrong,we wonder?SPOONFEEDING.right from babies,to graduates with no essence.
this point also includes my wish so that the ministry consider abolishing the matriculation program so that everyone has equal opportunity in this playing field.politicians say that the stpm and matriculation are on par with each other.rubbish.if its the same, why have two?save the headache and conduct only one pre-u course for the local universities.y abolish the matriculation and not the stpm, you ask?simple.the stpm doesnt just touch things on the surface.it provides you with a good 2-year worth of wholesome knowledge.nothing else can substitute this to prepare you for university.dont believe me?do a random check on the number of top students and which pre-u course they did.
there...aint that a simple wish list?it speaks on behalf of so many.ironically,it fails to reach upstairs,to the ears of the administration.lets start this new term with the implementation of useful policies.
put aside revenue wasting projects.no more likes of the KLCC(money making scheme, ridiculous parking rates, the rates at the food court are only fit for royalty standards),KLIA,mid valley(only if you can work on more parking spaces,no more traffic congestion),cyberjaya/putrajaya(so inaccesible) with its phenomenal costing lamp posts (what kinda supernatural rays does it emit?),please..
