You think you know your friends,and then they turn around and kick dirt in your face.

You think they love your company, and then you realise that without you ,'heck, life goes on!'

You think you've found a companion for life, and then he turns around and walks away.

You think you've found the very solution to your problem, and then the perfect solution becomes another problem.

You think you're loved, and then you wake up alone and bitter.

You think you're smart, and then someone tells you that grades don't matter.

You think you're funny, and then see that you're being snickered at.

You think you're intelligent and will be able to move on, and then it dawns that you cant; that betrayals have paralysed your spirit.


You think you're wise, and then you look around and notice that you're playing in a field of fools.

You think that you can put on a pretence and act like everything's fine, but then remember that you're transparent. Or realise that your friends are too caught up with themselves to realise you're hurt.

You think that if you love with all your heart, everything will fall in place. And then it hits you like a rock that that is a load of bullshit.

You readily offer your ears to people, and then it occurs to you that when you need to pour your soul out, everyone has got their own crap to attend to.

Why do we continue giving the people we love the benefit of the doubt?
