jazz fest at bukit kiara equestrian
hey,did u guys catch the jazz fest at bukit kiara last week?my friends n i drove down all the way from penang that weekend to watch the talented musicians perform..
it was supposed to start at four, but we reached just in time to catch camelia..well,since it was a saturday,it was ladies night at finnegans, hartamas we thought of having a margharita before the function, but we decided against it,fearing we'd be too high to enjoy the performances...so we saved it for the post concert pre-bangsar celebration that night.
anyway, camelia was great...n so was ning..if i remember correctly, she sang pasti, the lady is a tramp and stardust.im an advocate of ning, much to the cheh's n yuck's of my housematers..but this performance of her's convinced them that i have excellect taste in local artistes.heheh.heck,i even got mai yin to embrace ferhad's music...i thought it was gonna be an impossible feat, but each time i go online,i play the pernah mp3 over n over until she voluntarily puts on his cd these days (yes,i bought the cd for 45 bloody ringgit)
ning wore a simple 3/4 quarter sleeves,knee-length,red dress that accentuated her voluptous figure n worked marvellously with the crowd.
we were right infront standing with a group of ppl(like the classroom kiasu's) while the majority sat on the grassy field of the equestrian club.
next in line was sheila, who simply radiated the crowd with her smile.she wore a long spaghetti dress in multiple shades of blue.its unfair how someone that age can carry that dress well.i know i cant, so too many 21 year olds...she looked as if she put on some weight, and had that extra glow in her eyes...a definite sign of happiness.she sang warna-warna and something else too,if im not wrong...fly me to the moon.
next up was silk from india...only those who could appreciate indian music would have found it good, coz it seemed like half the crowd decided to get up n visit the toilet n stalls nearby during their stint.shanker mahadevan, the lead singer sang beautifully n had a lil malaysia-india conversation with the crowd through one of his songs.his percussionest deserve commendation for his excellent display of talent working with his babies....he played like an excited child given a new toy,n his instruments surrounded him llike a throne.
the supposedly grand finale was anggun.after looking at her on stage,i have to say she's way,way far from being anggun. a whiny high class prostitute was more like what she was.she wore a strapless corset top that was overflowing with her assets n a skirt so short if could double up as a tube.imagine, she was on the stage, singing with her legs wide open, batting her stupid eyelashes n squeezing her already spilling boobs.the guys in front of us was actually zooming in her lower half with their camera's.
she gave what she thought was a sultry rendition of her one time hit ,snow on the sahara with actions that got the male hormonal levels hitting the roof.to her "r u guys enjoyin urselfs tonite?",the guys obviously screamed 'yeah',while many of us girls there were embarassed to be women fro a while.did she think she was in some cabaret show in vegas?my friends who used to adore anggun changed their minds that night(they were females, obviously) while the guys were busy arranging to buy her album the next day.is this what we define as the women's lib era?creating dense female flashers?my friends n i were so disgusted by her performance n left halfway.
oh yeah,we managed to take a picture with steve thornton, the international percussionist n had a small conversation with him...we saw him at the kuching jazz fest as well...the pictures will be up soon...
after we left,we headed to finnegans hartamas to treat ourselves to those free drinks, after all...we had to endure anggun for that few minutes, didnt we?i had 3 n was already talking nonsense...apparently i tried to demonstrate to my friends that i could walk in a straight line...everyone else drank too but maya n i were the highest of them all....then we headed to bangsar to PARTY.....saw reshmonnu n yogi B there...the party was just about to reach its peak(as in the music was getting great) n then bangsar was RAIDED!!!talk abount an anti-climax....
ANGGUN SUCKS!!
